CJI warns: Use of AI in justice system may be biased against the poor

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud has made important comments on the increasing use of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the judiciary. Addressing a legal seminar, he said that although technology can increase the speed of justice, we also have to be mindful of its dangers. He warned that if AI algorithms have data bias, it could discriminate against the poor and the disadvantaged. He stressed the need for transparency and human oversight.
